Course Overview: IELTS Speaking Preparation (DLU Level 4-5)

Your Roadmap to Band 7–8.0 for Vietnamese Learners

Welcome to the IELTS Speaking Preparation Course, a dynamic five-lesson program crafted to empower Vietnamese EFL (English as a Foreign Language) learners to excel in the IELTS Speaking Test and achieve a Band 7–8.0. This 11–14-minute test, conducted face-to-face with an examiner, assesses your ability to communicate effectively across three distinct sections: Part 1: Introduction and Interview (4–5 minutes of personal questions like “What’s your hometown?”), Part 2: Individual Long Turn (3–4 minutes, including a 1-minute prep and 1–2-minute speech on topics like “Describe a memory…”), and Part 3: Two-Way Discussion (4–5 minutes of abstract questions like “Why do people travel?”). For Vietnamese learners, common obstacles—such as pronouncing English sounds (e.g., “th” or “v”), giving brief answers, or struggling with varied vocabulary and grammar—can hold you back. This course is designed to address those challenges head-on, turning them into opportunities for success.

Spanning five targeted lessons, the course builds your skills step-by-step:

  1. Lesson 1: Test Format & Evaluation – Learn the test’s structure and Band 7–8.0 scoring criteria (pronunciation, fluency/coherence, vocabulary/grammar), with tips to tackle Vietnamese-specific issues.
  2. Lesson 2: Part 1 – Introduction & Interview – Master short, fluent responses to everyday questions, practicing natural delivery and extension techniques.
  3. Lesson 3: Part 2 – Individual Long Turn – Develop structured, confident 1–2-minute speeches, using preparation strategies and advanced language.
  4. Lesson 4: Part 3 – Two-Way Discussion – Excel in analytical discussions with logical, detailed answers and critical thinking skills.
  5. Lesson 5: Summary & Mock Tests – Review all parts, refine strategies, and simulate the test with full mock practice to boost readiness.

We’ll focus on key skills: clear pronunciation (e.g., stress and intonation over Vietnamese tones), sustained fluency (3–6 sentences per answer), and a rich command of language (e.g., “captivating” instead of “nice,” complex sentences like “Had I known…”). By addressing hurdles like shyness, tense errors (e.g., “I go” vs. “I went”), or repetition, you’ll gain the tools to impress examiners. Expect hands-on practice, sample Band 7–8.0 responses, and tailored feedback. By the end, you’ll enter the test confident, prepared to deliver natural, sophisticated English—and secure your Band 7–8.0 for study, work, or migration goals!
